Welcome to the dog days of summer. The period during which the star Sirius rises alongside the sun runs from July 3 to August 11.
This is the time of year when we pack up the car or Sharon’s new Jeep Cherokee and drive up to our favorite small, underrated beaches along Lake Michigan.
I used to live ten minutes from the beach for six years, but never really frequented it. That was a waste of the beautiful Midwest landscape that was right in my backyard. We do not take that for granted anymore. If you have not had a beach day with Sharon, you are missing out. It is not just a quick trip; it is an experience with food, sun, and great conversation.
The beach has become a place for our family to reset and step away from the weekday grind.
Lean into what the Midwest has to offer and go to the beach during these last few days of the dog days.
